Investing means different things to different people.
When I think of why my wife and I invest money, it's not simply to accumulate money or advance our net worth – money is just a means to an end. Ultimately, our "end" is to have every day together, to spend time however we choose. Time to spend with friends and family, our dogs, traveling, outdoors or doing home improvement projects. It's important that we take responsible actions in order to achieve that dream but having our vision in mind helps us to remain disciplined and on track. The "means", or financial preparation, is what I help clients with. Think of it like having a financial coach or partner.
I enjoy working for people who have a serious, vivid goal in mind. It doesn't have to be outrageous, but it definitely can be. As a financial advisor, I need you to have that goal in mind, so I understand which tools and ideas to bring to the table. For some clients, I provide complete oversight of their financial goals and we commit to keeping each other up to date with key milestone changes. For other clients, they choose to have partial responsibility in the day-to-day decisions regarding their strategy, which leads to a more hands-on experience for them.
Regardless of how you choose to work with me, understand that I put sincere thought into the recommendations I incorporate into my clients' portfolios. Sometimes that means utilizing workplace benefits more effectively. Sometimes it involves adjustments to investment holdings. It could mean reviewing current life insurance policies and evaluating whether or not they are serving their intended purpose. I believe in giving very honest advice and if we have the opportunity to talk business, my first intention is to begin earning your trust and gain an understanding of what "end" you are working towards.
