About
Chartered in 1936 the Ottawa Lions Club continues to find new ways to live the Lions’ motto “We Serve.”
At the 1925 Lions International Convention, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become Knights of the Blind which continues to be the call of Lions today; to assist those with sight impairment and to work toward preventing, and ultimately eliminating the causes of blindness. Over the years the scope of Lions activities has expanded to include hearing impairment, many other health related issues, civic projects, youth engagement, emergency assistance, and environmental preservation.
With 1.35 million Lion members in 206 countries around the world Lions Clubs International is the largest volunteer service organization in the world and Ottawa Lions are proud to be part of that international community. Lions may be found in many different geographic locations and may differ in many ways but we share a common core belief – Community is what we make it.
Meeting on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, Ottawa Lions enjoy the friendship shared during a meal, explore and plan ways we can be of assistance to individuals and the community, and schedule fundraising activities to support those efforts.
You are invited to join us – come see what we’re about. You’ll find a place where you can make a difference locally and around the world.
