Mary Rose Coveyou, a senior at Ottawa Township High March, School, is the March Musician of the Month, sponsored I by Carlson Auto Body and Salt Tree Yoga. Mary Rose is a 4-year member of the Ottawa Township OHS Musician of the Month Band Program where she plays clarinet and piano. She is in the Wind Ensemble and is the section leader for the clarinets. Mary Rose is also involved with the jazz program where she plays piano and the drumline where she plays bass drum. Each year in high school, Mary Rose auditioned for the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 2 band. Her freshman year, she was accepted for the junior band and her sophomore through senior years, she was accepted for the senior band. In addition to ILMEA, Mary Rose also participated in the IHSA solo and ensemble contest where she received numerous division I (superior) ratings for her work on both clarinet and piano. Her freshmen through junior year, she was selected for the conference honor band (NIB12 and 18, no honor band held this year due to the pandemic). In addition to her music accolades, Mary Rose is also a National Merit Finalist and been on the honor roll all four years in high school. Mary Rose is the daughter of Daniel and Rhonda Coveyou Mary Rose Coveyou and will be going to college to study engineering or STEM Ottawa Township High School education.
